The Madras High Court on Friday extended till November 20 an order of status quo on a Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) inquiry initiated against DMK president M.K. Stalin and treasurer Durai Murugan.

The inquiry was initiated against the duo in connection with alleged irregularities in the construction of a new Legislative Assembly-cum-Secretariat complex in Chennai between 2008 and 2010.

The Tamil Nadu government had, on September 24, issued a Government Order (GO) for an inquiry by the DVAC. Mr. Stalin moved the Madras High Court to quash the GO.

The State government has alleged that there was cause to suspect a loss of 375 crore to the exchequer.
