A special CBI court in Delhi Patiala House today acquitted Ex. Minister A.Raja, Kanimozhi MP along with 15 other accused in the 2G spectrum scam case. 3 telecom companies were also acquitted. 

Those acquitted in the case include ex. Telecom secretary Siddharth Behura, Raja's erstwhile private secretary R.K.Chandolia, Swan Telecom promoters Shahid Usman Balwa and others.

Special CBI Court Judge O.P.Saini pronounced the judgement, The CBI had alleged, in its charge sheet filed in April 2011 against A.Raja and others that there was a loss of 30,984 crore rupees to the exchequer in allocation of 122 licences for 2G spectrum. 

The licences were scrapped by SC on 2nd February 2012.

All the accused facing trial in these cases had denied allegations levelled against them by the CBI and the ED. 

The court had in October 2011 framed charges against them under various provisions of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act dealing with offences of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery, using as genuine fake documents, abusing official position, criminal misconduct by public servant and taking bribe.

Special CBI Court Judge O.P.Saini also acquitted A.Raja, Kanimozhi MP and 17 other in the ED's money laundering case relating to the 2G scam. 

In its charge sheet, the ED had also named DMK leader M.Karunanidhi's wife Dayalu Ammal as an accused in the case in which it had alleged that Rs.200 crore was paid by Swan Telecom promoters to DMK run Kalaignar TV.

In its final report, the ED had named 10 individuals and 9 companies as accused and listed them in the charge sheet for the offences under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. 

Responding to today's 2G verdict, the CBI spokesperson said the agency will take legal opinion and decide the future action, once it receives the complete judgement. 

ED sources also said they will appeal against the special court verdict on 2G spectrum allocation.
