Delhi government has withdrawn its Odd-Even car rationing scheme which was to be implemented from Monday.

The decision was taken at a meeting this afternoon called by CM Arvind Kejriwal, following National Green Tribunal, NGT order on the scheme. 

The tribunal today directed, that there will be no exemption for two-wheelers and women drivers. NGT said, odd-even scheme can be implemented when PM10 level is above 500 micrograms per cubic metre and PM2.5 above 300 micrograms per cubic metre. 

Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said the government's decision came in view of the directive by the NGT, which ordered the withdrawal of all exemptions, including to two-wheeler riders and woman driving vehicle. 

He said, the government is not ready to compromise with the safety of women. Also he said, Delhi government will file a review application in NGT on Monday.

Earlier this week, the Delhi government had announced the implementation of the odd-even scheme from Monday to Friday. Schools were also shut down till Sunday.
