The government today said there is no official estimation of the quantum of black money in circulation in the country and the amount stashed outside the country. 

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, FM Arun Jaitley said, the government, however, has taken a number of activities for eradicating and forfeiting black money. 

Arun Jaitley said under direct taxes laws, such actions include searches, surveys, assessment of income, levy of tax, penalty and filing of prosecution complaints before criminal courts, wherever applicable. 

He said from April to December 15, this year 15522 millions of currency notes printed in the country while it was 29,043 million in 2016-17.
